Go Big Plants, a Whatnot seller with an impressive 5-star rating and over 11,300 items sold, hosted a live show that sold out two rare Alocasia “Flying Squid” tissue cultures for $8 each. The seller, a retired master mechanic with 40 years of experience, offered plants from his collection to fans who tuned in for the flash sale.
The Alocasia “Flying Squid” is a specialty item that is sure to thrill any serious plant collector. The seller joked about not being a fan of these particular plants, saying “I mean, I think they’re cool. They’re just not my jam. You know what I mean?” but it’s clear they’re a hit with Whatnot viewers.
One Whatnot user congratulated the seller on the sale, saying “way a really nice fly pack today! Good pickup on the flying squid. Ham Tae.” The seller’s enthusiasm for the sale was evident when he exclaimed, “Yeah, I heard these could be tough to keep growing.”
This flash sale showed that even at $8, rare aroids can command attention and enthusiasm from serious plant collectors.
