Alocasia Black Velvet Urea Finds a New Home

A rare Alocasia ‘Black Velvet Urea’ has found a new home after selling for $26 in a Whatnot live auction. The specimen, one of only a few that are known to exist, was sold to “queenammx” after a three-bid competition. The sale event closed with a successful payment, as the winner, “queenammx”, was able to secure the plant for their collection.

Gobigplants, the seller, was enthusiastic about their plant’s popularity, jokingly mentioning that the winning bidder would get to take home the plant and also receive a bonus: a fun “beat on it with the stick” experience. The plant’s unique appearance and highly sought-after nature likely drew the attention of the many viewers participating in the live auction.

It’s not uncommon for gardening enthusiasts and plant collectors to seek out rare and unique specimens like the Alocasia ‘Black Velvet Urea’. This sale event, hosted by gobigplants on Whatnot, provided an exciting opportunity for bidders to get their hands on a one-of-a-kind houseplant.

The plant’s new owner, “queenammx”, can now enjoy the beauty and novelty of their prize, while also sharing their good fortune with others – the plant seems to have brought joy to its seller, after all. Congratulations to both the seller and winner on this successful transaction!
