In a Whatnot live auction show, capcityplants featured a highly coveted Monstera Obliqua Napo TC. The seller made a playful comment that they’d “drop him a smidge” on the price, and then offered to sell the plant for $4.95 to the highest bidder. No other bids were placed, and the plant sold to viewer tinacox0168 for the set price. The comments in the chat covered a range of topics, including the seller’s upcoming game, postal issues with a neighbor, past encounters with overhyped pet purchases, and an annual car event for Mitsubishi owners.
The Monstera Obliqua is known for its striking appearance, with unique leaf patterns and thick stems. TC stands for “tetraploidy,” which means that the plant has four times the amount of chloroplast DNA as average Monstera, making it a highly sought-after cultivar among rare plant enthusiasts.
