During an entertaining live show, imaniperry’s Storage Unit Finds event on Whatnot, a single item caught the eye of a enthusiastic bidder. Auction #35, a vintage umbrella hat, was sold to toshistreasures for $5.00 USD.
The sale was notable not only for the hat’s unique feature but also for the lighthearted moment it represented in the midst of an auction. The seller, imaniperry, took a brief break to, well, go to the bathroom, and left the room with the viewers making some good-natured jokes and comments. One viewer suggested that the umbrella hat be saved for a special occasion: diving in the rain. Others shared humorous ideas for presenting snack items, from a Cheetos “charcuterie board” to discarding an umbrella hat in the most dramatic way possible.
It’s easy to imagine the umbrella hat will find a new home where it will be cherished for its whimsy, and not just its functionality.
